Passions Arise!

While at the annual Minuteman Muster I found myself wandering around the various camps and listening to the fife and drum. With patriotic sounds resonating in my ears I came across the British encampment.  A scaffold had been set up for bayonet practice. Two burlap sacks of hay were set swinging in the breeze under the beam. On the beam were the names of Americas most beloved patriots, Hancock and Adams. My feelings surprised me! Suddenly I wasn't at a reenactment, I was in colonial New England again. I was angry and offended that these british tyrants would be so bold as to insult us on our own soil. It's just acting I told myself, it's just acting, now calm down. I composed myself and with steam coming from under my collar I took a picture of the blasphemy. I then went to the lemonade stand and bought my self a cool one, I needed a drink. I love America.

Thats My Boy

Right after finding out I had to have colon surgery for the removal of a polyp, my son had commencement exercises. Talk about two major events. He was graduating from Boston University Cum Laude! We piled in the car and drove down Storrow Dr. on the banks of the Charles River into the University. It was a perfect day, sun shining nice temperature. The graduates and their guests assembled at Nikerson Field for the general graduation ceremony. Billy Jean King was there. President of the Red Sox organization made a wonderful uplifting speech.
We then went to the specific graduation of the school of International Relations were my son received his diploma. Afterwards we went outside and took pictures.
Three weeks later he got a job at Boston Childrens Hospital, nice. We are so proud of him and hope the best for him.

Men of Courage

I take my camera with me and sometimes I come across some interesting things. This morning I passed a bicyclist hit by a car, I ignored that photo op. Then to my surprise I came across steeple jacks working on Martha Mary Chapel in Sudbury Mass. I took some shots and talked to the guys.
I never have done steeple work and I respect the men and women who do. It's a delicate business. One wrong move and it's all over. Scaffolding and ladders have to be positioned perfectly and fastened tight.
Apparently the top of the steeple leaks and after repairs it is getting a new weather vane with gold leaf on it. I have taken pictures of brides in this chapel, built by Henry Ford years ago.. Down the street is Longfellows Wayside Inn a wonderful spot with significant history. In 1955 it burned to the ground. My dad was there and supplied the fire trucks with gasoline from his gas station to continue the fight. It was rebuilt and is a very popular place.
Back to the Jacks, the man in the green pokadotted hat said not to take his picture cause the police were after him. LOL.

By The Skin Of My Teeth

Last night I was visiting a friend, his kids sat on my lap and tickled me. The dog sat at my feet wanting a neck rub. I was only going to stay about an hour and it ended up two and a half hours. I got out hopped in my 57 Chevy and nothing. The battery was dead, bummer. The kids came out Don got his truck going and we hooked up the jumpers and varoom the old beast started right up. I just put a new generator in it and come to find out. The terminal was loose on the negative battery post. Today i  fixed the problem. I love it when things are simple.
